If you want to transfer a lot of information, and server or hosting has some limitations, the best solution is here: PhP-ZiP MultiVolume Script.
Step 1:
- 1. Download This Script
- Mirror 1 – phpzip-multivol.zip
- Mirror 2 - phpzip-multivol.zip
- Local File – phpzip-multivol.zip
- 2. Upload script on old host/server
- 3. Load script “phpzip-multivol.php” in browser
- 4. Configure script with desired values
- 5. Starts script and waits until it reaches the final job (parsing data)
Step 2:
- 1. You just need to run shell scripts from the command line (in old server for archive) ex: ./backup-2010-04-24_zip.sh
- 2. Copy all archives on the new server (file by file)
- 3. Run shell scripts from the command line in new server for extracting, ex: ./backup-2010-04-24_unzip.sh
Note:
- – archives are not linked to one another (If an archive is somehow corrupt will not lose all data.)
- - to avoid php-time-out script (60s default), number of files in a directory should not exceed 15 000. It is preferable that php-time-out to be at least 180 seconds for 50,000 or more files in one folder.
- - if ssh account does not allow the script (command line) to run more than three minutes, would be suggested that each archive to be under 1Gbyte
- - also, if your shell-script (extractor *unzip.sh) is killed before the end, each script command must be entered manually, one by one.
- - do not pack more than 2 Gbyte per archive
